Vice President – Denver Office
Kay was born in Dubuque, Iowa, and moved to the Denver area in 1954. Upon graduation from school, Kay became employed in the banking industry in the commercial loan department of one of Denver’s largest banks. In 1974, she joined Purolator Security Corporation in marketing and sales and in 1978 she took a management position with Wickes Corporation Agriculture Division.
When Hamilton Properties Corporation bought the suburban office building that housed Wickes, Kay became that company’s liaison to its new landlord. The relationship turned out to be a happy one and at about the same time that Kay was thinking she might like to shift careers to an entrepreneurial organization like Hamilton she was approached by the firm and agreed to make the change leaving behind the better apparent security of a large Fortune 500 company. Ironically, Wickes soon filed for bankruptcy protection, terminating its lease in the building shortly after Kay had joined Hamilton and Hamilton in turn had sold the building.
Thus the stars were in alignment when Kay began her Hamilton Properties career as a property manager. Her responsibilities grew over the years during which she has been instrumental in managing numerous projects for the company including apartment buildings, office buildings and retail space – negotiating thousands of leases in the process. In recent times she has had direct overall responsibility for the Denver office and all of the company’s Colorado properties. Kay would have had little reason to imagine in 1982 when she joined the firm that she would still be with Hamilton Properties Corporation more than twenty five years later.
Kay is a licensed real estate broker, a member of the National Association of Realtors, the Colorado Association of Realtors and the Denver Metro Commercial Association of Realtors. Kay’s interests include spending time with her large family, her two German Shepherds and her horses, reading and the renovation of older houses.Print PDF
